Whilton Mill
Northamptonshire
Easy to get to, just off the M1 in Northamptonshire, this purpose built venue is certainly one of the best. Great circuit, great facilities, and the infamous Christmas corner.
Whilton Mill is a technical and flowing circuit measuring 1,120 meters with a mix of challenging corners, elevation changes, and overtaking opportunities. Its layout demands precise braking, smooth inputs, and strong corner exits for competitive lap times.
The lap begins with Turn 1 (Oblivion), a fast, downhill left-hander requiring a controlled entry to maintain balance into Turn 2 (Crook), a tight right-hander. A clean exit here is essential to carry momentum through the short straight leading to Turn 3 (Fine Lady), a fast sweeping right-hand bend that feeds onto the Back Straight, one of the fastest sections of the track.
At the end of the straight, Turn 4 (Christmas Corner) is a heavy braking zone and prime overtaking opportunity, requiring a late apex for a strong run onto Kenney Straight. This leads into Turn 5 (Ashby), a sharp right-hand hairpin demanding precise braking and a smooth exit to maintain speed into Turn 6 (Parker), a flowing left-hand corner.
The mid-section transitions into Turn 7 (Chapman), a tight left requiring patience before accelerating into Turn 8 (Zulu One). The tricky chicane sequence continues with Turn 9 (Zulu Two) and Turn 10 (Zulu Three), where smooth inputs are vital to avoid losing momentum.
The final sector features Turn 11 (The Boot Entry), a tight right-hander leading into Turn 12 (The Boot Middle) and Turn 13 (The Boot Exit), a challenging sequence that demands precision. The lap concludes with Turn 14 (Pits Bend), a sweeping right that leads onto the start-finish straight.
The circuit is accessed via a small road leading into a large paddock area. The surrounding terrain is relatively open, and elevation changes throughout the track add to the challenge. With its technical layout and high-speed sections, Whilton Mill is a favorite among drivers seeking to refine their skills.
